Bernie was born in Arizona and raised in Shenorock in Northern Westchester County, NY. In 1967, he attended The State University of New York's Agricultural and Technical College at Alfred.  That is where he started his career in  entertainment at the campus radio station, W V A T.

While in The US Army, he briefly attended classes in Radio Announcing and Music at Central Texas Community College near Fort Hood. He also currently takes multimedia courses at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA.

Bernie has worked at the following radio stations: WHHO in Hornell, NY,  WSCV in Peterborough, NH,   WLSV in Wellsville, NY ,  KHAP in Aztec, NM,  and   WARE in Ware, MA.

His work in indy films prior to "Melvin" include being an audio operator for "Arkon Games X" and "The Station;"  shooting and editing video for "Apremont, The Beginnings," and being a production assistant and background actor for "Timebender" and "Lonesome Thoughts."

He is in the process of writing a screenplay called "Checkmate" for Bear Budget films.  He hopes to continue his association with all the wonderful cast members and crew involved in producing indy films in Western Massachusetts through production companies such as Apremont, Crooked Pine, Ryan Road, Polearm, Stocks Eye Productions, and Bear Budget Films.
